STAY: THE GREAT MADRAS HOTEL, SINGAPORE

This boutique hotel was everything I needed and more, it was just perfect! I came across The Great Madras on Instagram and the Wes Anderson theme gave me all the feels and I knew I had to stay here. I arrived in Singapore at 6.30am after a very uncomfortable twelve hour flight, it took me awhile to figure out how to leave the airport and get on the correct train but after an hour I was finally on my way. I must say the thought of my arrival here was the only thing getting me through the train journey… locals seemed to be headed to work and there I was looking extremely lost and wearing my extremely scary post long haul flight face.

The hotel was just how it looked online, no horrible surprises… just good ones. Probably for the first time ever I was allowed to check in hours earlier as the room was ready, very lucky as I was in desperate need of a freshen up. Whilst waiting for my room key I had my first little look around the lobby and the dining room/restaurant, noticing all the details. ‘Ooo wow, photogenic washing machines, who’d have thought that?!’ and finding cute chairs that I just wanted to sit in.

Now time to check out my room, obviously a look around the hallways first..

It’s all in the details!

And here’s the bedroom, where I slumped onto the huge bed just for a moment. It was so comfy that I was tempted to have a mid morning nap but I knew full well that I would end up sleeping for the whole day. There was a huge TV opposite the bed however I’m not a huge fan of TV’s in hotel rooms…, a little dressing table/desk with a kettle and some cute branded enamel mugs with a hot drink selection. The palm tree wallpaper and pink tiles are extremely pleasing to the eye.

You receive a little check-in kit that includes a comb, shaving kit, dental kit, vanity kit and a shower cap. All those little helpful bits! but how cute is the packaging!

A smallish but great swimming pool, a great pool slogan and great pool rules placed on the stairs! I unfortunately didn’t have enough time for a dip!

The hotel has an in-house barber shop! Even though this didn’t personally benefit me it’s still pretty cool to have! Something that did benefit me very well was the included breakfast buffet, I really do like to make the most of these buffets as they keep you set for the day ahead (in my case it was a flight to Bali) so not pictured is a bowl of nesquiks!

I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough, I do wish I stopped over in Singapore a little longer than a night just for the comfy bed alone but there’s always next time! Thank you for a pleasant stay Great Madras!
